Today's #kinderblog challenge is to write about our pet peeves.
For some reason, most of my pet peeves revolve around eating and drinking. Eating a meal with my family is a very challenging time for me. I'm not sure where these pet peeves come from, but man, do they bother me!
First of all, I HATE it when people scrape the food off their forks or spoons with their teeth. I have two brothers that do this, and it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. It makes me shudder every time. I don't understand why they have to use their teeth. I do just fine with my lips.
Secondly, chewing noises drive me nut! My youngest brothers and my dad frequently chew with their mouths open. It causes the most obnoxious noises. I can't stand it. My dad even inhales as he chews - that's the absolute worst. My husband and his dad's jaws make this weird clicking noise when they eats, and I have to work hard to ignore that as well.
I also really can't stand when people scrape their glass or ceramic plates with their forks. My mom and my mother-in-law do this. I have actually left the table before because of all the scraping. Again, it's one of those nails on a chalkboard situations.
Lastly, my husband makes these annoying swallowing noises when he drinks any beverage. Seriously, I think I could hear drinking if I was upstairs and he was downstairs. It drives me crazy. I don't know why he has to swallow with such force.
Like I said, having a meal with my family is quite challenging. I'm sure I have my weird eating habits too, so I try my best not to say anything about these pet peeves. Sometimes I have to just get up and leave. I'm sure that once I have children, I'll be fighting these pet peeves more than ever. Children are not clean, quiet eaters. I'm up for that challenge though. Maybe it will help me build more patience for them.
